How I shot this wildlife photograph at home – Behind the scenes story
Wildlife photography is one of the huge and popular sections of PHOTOGRAPHY. But it is not always possible to be out there on wildlife locations to get your dream wildlife photograph.
What if I say you can click Wildlife photographs at your home? Sounds crazy right? But it is possible. If there is a will there is a way.
With creative photography ideas one can capture anything. And this wildlife photograph is all about creativity.
One night I was browsing the internet about different angles of wildlife photography that is when I came across a picture of a frog on a leaf which were shot from underneath the leaf. Only the shadow of the frog was visible.
Then an Idea struck my mind. Why can’t I use Paper Cut impressions of animals to create such photos? If I was able to create similar impressions with paper cut wild life subjects, then I would be able to do wildlife photography in my home.
My home is in between a rural place and an urban town. So a lot of variety of plants can be found near my home.
My first try for this wildlife photograph was with a banana leaf. I and cut a shape of a frog and a snake from paper and placed them on a banana leaf. I had set up chairs on my Home’s roof for my so called wildlife image.
After a lot of adjustments with the leaf and the paper cuts, I finally managed to get one image, but I was not satisfied with the output.
So I collected a colocasia leaf and tried the same procedure again. The little yellow spots on the colocasia leaf and the light on the spots produced a stunning image.
It was a dreamlike situation for me. I clicked a couple of shots with different compositions varying the position of snake and frog on the leaf. And at last I got the best possible shot.
I was essentially photographing nonliving objects (pretend to be living) so I had enough time to adjust my camera settings to get the best shot.
I had all the time in the world to get the best wildlife shot (so called) ever.
I feel capturing great moments is the heart of photography. But if you have an open mind and think creatively then you can easily create amazing photographs.
This attitude will help not only in the field of wildlife, but in any type of photography.
If someone does not get a lot of opportunity to travel, creative photography is one of the best way to express yourself and share your photo ideas to the world. I have done the same. I have genuinely tried to express my creativity and I thank you for all the appreciation.
All I would say is, an open and artistic mind will help you to create search photographs. So be creative, be artistic and Happy Clicking. And also, thanks for reading this article.
