Before I even start explaining what are the best mirrorless cameras to buy in 2019 , I would like to explain what a mirrorless camera is as many of you must have only heard about these cameras because of all the hype that they are creating (the hype is worth it though).
The main difference is the presence/absence of the mirror which reflects the light to the optical view finder.
In case of the mirrorless cameras the mirror is absent and image is directly projected onto the sensor by the lens and thus an electronic viewfinder is seen in these cameras.
Because of the absence of the mirror these cameras are more compact and lighter than the traditional DSLRs.
And now… let’s jump right into the best mirrorless cameras to buy in 2019,
The game changer and on higher end was Sony with A9 but soon came in other companies like Nikon and canon with slightly more affordable mirrorless cameras.
In this article we will not only see the high-end options but also the more affordable ones which are better suited for daily usage and for beginners.
10. Canon EOS M100
Without a doubt this would be the first mirrorless camera, rather an affordable mirrorless camera for those of you who have just graduated from mobile photography.
It’s a compact camera with dimensions as: 4.3 x 2.6 x 1.4 in. and weighing in at a mere 300gms. with interchangeable lenses (stock lens being 15-45mm which is quite reasonable).
It has a 24megapixel APS-C sensor with a touchscreen which can tilt 180.
It has a few drawbacks though like the lack of a viewfinder and thus the screen is the only option, also it cannot handle 4k video recording.
But overall it’s a good match for beginners.
It is priced between 30000 – 40000 INR depending where you buy it from.
Launched in 2014 but still going strong with all the competition in the market this model deserved to be on the list.
With a 24megapixel APS-C sensor and 11fps burst shoot it’s a great mirrorless camera.
It comes a with a kit lens of 16-50mm
Although it does not have the option 4k video recording it still records 1080p videos. But if 4k is what you want then going for a6300 or a6500 would be advised.
It also lacks a touch screen but for the affordable value of 40000 – 47000 INR it would be asking for a lot.
This camera is an excellent choice for those of you who are into vlogging and till now have been using a mobile for doing it.
Its one of the most affordable mirrorless camera out there with a sharp image resolution and supporting 4k videos also (with a small hiccup of only 15fps); but the 1080p video quality and image quality is as good as some of the other good models in its class.
It has 24megapixel APS-C sensor with a tilt screen that can turn completely and face the subject.
It is priced at around 55000 INR.
It’s a classic mirrorless camera with a compact body and a great retro look to go with it.
This is the first camera in our list aimed at both the beginners and the slightly more advanced group
Not only that, but it’s also the first one that supports a good 4kvideo with an inbuilt viewfinder, tilt screen and image stabilization.
But some issues arise because of the 16megapixel sensor and the trouble faced in focusing on moving targets.
But with its value of 66000 – 70000 INR it has got a good model which works sufficiently good enough in almost all situations.
It’s a perfect mirrorless camera for those who have liked the GH4 and those who want great 4k videos.
It has a 20megapixel four thirds sensor with a 60fps continuous shooting mode.
It also has continuous autofocus which helps a lot and one another great thing is that it also supports 6k videos.
The major putdown is the small sensor which leads to a not so great low light performance and on top of that there is no built in flash to help with this problem.
It is priced at around 78000 – 80000 INR.
This is one of the best if not the best APS-C camera for videos and it is easily better Sony A6500 and A6300.
It has a 26.1megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with amazing autofocus and great video abilities providing a 4k video.
Not only that, but its also weather resistant and has a great build quality.
Sadly there is no built in stabilization and the lack of the flip screen can be a hinderance for few of you out there.
The low light performance is comparable much better than the X-T2 but it could have been improved a bit a more.
This model is priced at 96500 INR roughly.
After all of these entry level and midrange mirrorless cameras we will get to the top … the ones made for the serious enthusiasts and the professionals alike.
4. Canon EOS R
This is canons first full frame mirrorless camera.
It has a resolution of 30.3megapixels and a continuous shooting of 8fps and a much desired fully articulating screen.
The photo quality is great and the videos are pretty good to although non cropped 4k is not available.
Some let downs though are that there is no built-in stabilization and the 4k videos although good are extremely cropped.
Also… it does not provide dual card slots which is being provided by it competitors.
It has higher price range of 173000 INR.
3. Nikon Z6
We have finally hit Nikon giant… the Z series. The Nikon Z6 comes equipped with a 24megapixel resolution and a decent crop ability.
Has a 273 point autofocus system with 12fps burst shooting.
The viewfinder with its beautiful size is easy to use and like all other Nikon models the menu is user friendly.
It also allows 4k videos, with great image and video quality.
The slight issues faced by the professionals out there is the lack of lenses for this model and limited buffer depth.
It is priced at 156450 INR.
2. Sony A9
There have been very few models who had the ability to make die hard Nikon and canon users look their way and take them seriously… but guess what?!… Sony A9 did just that.
Sony brought this near perfect of a mirrorless camera to completely dethrone the DSLRs and to shake up Nikon and canon.
It has 35mm sensor size with 24megapixel resolution going along with it. Not only that but it also provides 20fps continuous burst shoot and a 4k video ability.
No matter what genre you are working in this camera will fit in perfectly and provide an excellence in quality nearly unmatched by any other mirrorless camera.
One of the only reason people avoid this camera is because it is slightly overpriced at 308490 INR.
1. Nikon Z7
The behemoth among the mirrorless cameras and maybe the only one which gives Sony A9 a run for its money is this camera.
The flagship model for Nikon mirrorless cameras comes armed with a full frame sensor and a 45.7megapixel resolution, 9fps and supporting 4k videos.
It has a 493point AF system with a 3.2inch long touch screen.
It also comes with a built in phase detection autofocus which is beneficial for great video making.
The best part… something expected from Nikon is how they have kept the camera user friendly.
But there still are a few glitches here and there like the shortest battery life in its class and the lack of 2XQD card slots is a major turndown for some professionals.
Although I have listed down the top 10 mirrorless cameras you can go for in 2019 I had a few more models which I could not put in the list but they are still worth giving a shot.
